The 4th installment of our features series takes place at our “Interviews and BBQs” at SXSWi 2010. (mt)’s Jason McVearry sat down with CEO of TechStars, David Cohen and Martin May, Founder of Brightkite. Long time partner of (mt), TechStars is a pioneer in mentorship-driven seed stage investing for web and software start ups. With the motto “The geeks shall inherit the earth”, the TechStars incubator model is designed to getting good ideas off the ground.
Brightkite is just one of the start ups funded by TechStars as part of the 2007 Denver class. Martin and his team crafted an outstanding mobile social networking app that has been a success since its launch. In 2009, Brighkite merged with Limbo to form the largest mobile location-based social discovery service. With over 2 million active users worldwide, Brightkite is still growing!
