Today we deployed an enhancement to our domain name registration system that enables some new and exciting capabilities for our users. First is is the ability for new customers to purchase domain names independent of a hosting account. The second is a new domain partner system, built to enable 3rd-party web services to simplify their current domain-mapping experience.

Domain Registrations Without Hosting:

Traditionally we’ve required new users to purchase a hosting plan with domain registrations, but this is no longer the case. To celebrate, we’re offering new customer domain registrations at an industry low rate of $5 per year. $5 domains will be available to new customers until the end of the year. To get your own, you’ll find a domain search area in our main website’s footer.

The Domain Partner Program:

The new program makes it extremely easy for web service companies who allow their users to use their own custom domain names to simplify and enhance the domain purchase and setup experience.

We’ve made the job of registering domains for partners easy by providing branded landing pages where users can begin their domain name search, but we didn’t stop there. Upon purchase, domains will be automatically mapped to point at the partners web service, automating all the tricky DNS settings that tend to confuse users.
