New Tools for the (dv): Advanced Recovery Tools & Reverse DNS Controls

We’re excited to announce a few new features recently added for our (dv) Dedicated-Virtual customers. Joining the other nifty tools available from your AccountCenter are two new sections created to make your life as a server administrator just a little bit easier. Details after the jump…

Advanced Recovery Tools

A new suite of controls centered around dealing with “disaster recovery” situations.

  • Re-install your (dv): Reset everything to how it was when you got the server originally, and save all prior data to an archive directory you can access afterward. This is perfect if you need to start fresh or if you’re unfortunate enough to be the victim of a server compromise.
  • Reset firewall rules: Your (dv) has a fully configurable firewall, but sometimes “fully” can work against you! If you’ve ever applied a new firewall rule only to realize that you just locked yourself out of your own server, you’ll be happy to know that you can now reset your firewall settings from the AC with a few clicks. We’ll even save a copy of your rules before resetting them and let you know how to get to them.
  • Add temporary disk space: Sometimes you just need that extra “bump” in space to clear up an oversized log file or email inbox that hasn’t been looked at in ages. Whatever the cause, running out of space can put a real damper on your server and lead to angry visitors. With this tool, you can add a temporary 1GB of space so you can clear things up and start running normally again, all at no extra cost.

Reverse DNS

Additionally, the new Reverse DNS Controls make it easier to manage all of your PTR records straight from the AccountCenter. As a bonus we’re making this a feature for both the (dv) and the (dpv) Nitro products:

  • Manage all of your server’s IP PTR records easily, using an online interface.
  • Make as many changes as you need, as many times as you need to.
  • Instant confirmation that the change will take. No more waiting on a ticket response to have a change done!
