TechCrunch Disrupt NYC 2011 Wrap Up
If watching the TechCrunch Hackathon was like watching a minor league baseball game, with hopeful participants looking to move up in the ranks, then TechCrunch Disrupt was a major league game. You had your heavyweights such as Foursquare, Square and Oyster commanding attention, but you also had some very talented startups in the dug out, ready to step up to the plate.
Our team had a chance to sit down with some attendees to discuss startups that were present. Check out the video above to hear about their favorites.

Just like the Hackathon, start-ups presented in front of a panel of judges and an audience. After all was said and done, a winner was selected. GetAround stood tall amongst the 32 startups who participated.

The event was held in the beautiful Pier 94. There were over 100 startups excited to share their knowledge and products. We were able to collect cool t-shirts, puzzles and a ball made out of slime but, most importantly, we were given the chance to talk to a number of companies looking to reshape the world.
On the final day, our CEO, Demian Sellfors, participated in a promotion with Sonar, an app built to unite users with similar interests in the physical world. Users interested in hosting were allowed to schedule one-on-one time to meet with Demian at the conference. By the end of the day there was a line of people waiting to pick Demian’s brain about business and hosting infrastructure. It was exciting, and par for the course at Disrupt, to see an app’s usefulness showcased successfully.
Overall it was a great experience for the (mt) team and we look forward to being a part of the next Disrupt in San Francisco later this year.
