Help (mt) to change the world!

In February, (mt) started giving back to the world by creating our World Community Grid team. The World Community Grid’s goal is to create the largest public computing grid benefiting humanity by collectively contributing idle computer time to nonprofit research. Over 304,000 members and 16,000 teams comprised of universities, corporations and organizations have joined with IBM to contribute to these causes for humanity. (mt) shot up to #113, Surpassing Spain in total points and we’re now beating Russia in daily points. We’ve contributed to the fight against Cancer, AIDS, Muscular Distrophy and more and we’re inviting you today to join our team (it’s free) and make a difference in the world.

To Start:

1. Go to the WCG site, register, and create a user name for yourself. Don’t forget to use your real email or we won’t be able to send you your shirt: Link.
2. When you register, under “Select a Team:” click “Select…” and search for “(mt) Media Temple” and join our team.
3. When asked to download the application, we recommend to download Boinc client (it supports multi-cpu/core
   architecture for rapid point gain). Follow the installation instructions (Win, Linux, & Mac) and start earning points.
4. If you bypassed joining our team earlier, you can do it any time after registration by going to the (mt) team page and click on “Join our team”: Link.
5. When you have 250,000 points and are ready to claim your (mt) t-shirt, go to the WCG site, click on “My Grid” then “My Team” and finally click on “e-mail captain” to let him know you are ready to get the goods. Don’t forget to put your username in the email so we can verify it’s you.
