FAQ:
Q. Will this affect the performance of my (ve) Server?
A. Not at all. The new Realtime Server Status is a lightweight engine that is executed on the host server and will not affect your (ve) Server’s guaranteed resources.
Q. What server stats are available with the new tool?
A. Currently the tool supports CPU, RAM, Disk Usage, Processes, Load, Bytes In/Out and Packets In/Out. Future versions of the tool will track additional metrics.
Q. Can I view realtime graphs on my smart phone?
A. Yes. Modern smart phones with javascript/ajax enabled browsers will be able to display Realtime Server Status graphs.
Q. Do I get alerts when my service goes over a certain threshold?
A. Currently we display visual alerts only in the service-list of the AccountCenter. In future versions, we will offer custom alert configurations that will proactively notify you if a threshold is reached.
Q. Can I manage the resource thresholds that cause alerts?
A. Not in this version. In future releases, we will offer custom alert configurations which will allow administrators to tune specific servers with specific thresholds.
Q. I am a (dv) user, will I get Realtime Server Status also?
A. Not yet. However, we will offer this feature to (dv) Dedicated-Virtual customers later this year (2010).
Q. When will I be able to access a public version of the public API?
A. The new Realtime Server Status uses a new API architecture which we are hard at work to make publicly available. This will allow the development community to create a variety of new applications. Watch this blog and the (mt) Labs page for upcoming API Beta announcements.
