Matching AWS Services to Use Cases
For most enterprises and startups, the cloud’s seemingly limitless potential has made it an essential business resource.
Key to fully unlocking the potential of the cloud, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) in particular, is for companies to develop a proper roadmap, which means matching each strategic cloud goal with the appropriate AWS service. High performance, for instance, can be ensured by using AWS load balancers to automatically distribute incoming traffic while CloudFront can ensure the delivery of all static data from a location closer to the user. Scalability can be ensured by utilizing Lambda to autoscale S3/EC2 instances when a certain threshold of users is hit. For quick recovery from disaster, setting up a cheap and efficient backup database in a different data center is easily achieved through Amazon’s Relational Database Service (RDS). And, finally, to efficiently handle user management (i.e., sign ups and sign ins), AWS Cognito is a tailor-made solution that can enable social logins via Google or Facebook.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for a proper AWS roadmap, which can expand rapidly when there are multiple use cases. As all-sized companies are often lacking the internal cloud expertise, it’s usually more time- and cost-efficient for them to take advantage of a third party, like a cloud managed service provider, to ensure cloud success.
