Financial and Healthcare Giants Find Safety in the Cloud
Naturally, security should be top-of-mind for any enterprise looking to launch a site or app on the cloud. The good news: The cloud has increasingly become the safest place for business-critical data, as evidenced by major financial and healthcare enterprises, historically risk-averse, embracing the cloud over the past year.
While JPMorgan Chase has moved two of their customer-facing apps to the cloud, Deutsche Bank reported a massive migration of workflows to the public cloud and Johnson & Johnson are planning to bring 85% of their applications to the cloud by 2018. These very public cases stand in stark contrast to those who still have concerns with the cloud’s security. Which leads to a larger question: Why are IT leaders and cloud users still concerned with security on the cloud? With next-generation technology available on almost every major public cloud platform, these worries for cloud security may have less to do with the cloud itself and more from the trust issues with previous infrastructure or hosting solutions used in the past.
